Lake Powell Resort
Overlooking Wahweap Bay, Lake Powell Resort, formerly known as Wahweap Lodge, is the largest lodging facility on Lake Powell. The elegant Rainbow Room dining room is featured, as well as banquet and meeting facilities. Amenities include a lounge, room service, a gift shop, two pools, a spa, an exercise room and satellite television. -
Bullfrog's Defiance House Lodge
Inspirational views of the sacred Navajo Mountain and the Henry Mountain Range reward the guests at Bullfrog's Defiance House Lodge, built high on a bluff overlooking Bullfrog Bay. Amenities include a restaurant, a lounge, a gift shop and satellite TV. -
Family Units
To enjoy the comforts of home, many visitors choose the family units at Halls Crossing and Bullfrog marinas and at Hite. Each three-bedroom unit has a living room, completely equipped kitchen, two full baths, a satellite TV, electricity and garbage collection, but no phones. One unit at Hite is specially equipped for guests with disabilities and there are units at Halls Crossing, Hite and Bullfrog with ramps. -
Houseboats
Every year, more and more people discover "the ultimate escape from a clock-watching world." Just cast off as your own captain and sleep under the stars in your private cove. Houseboats are virtually unsinkable. Some come equipped with two engines, so you have a back-up for emergencies. Houseboat rentals are available at Antelope Point, Bullfrog, Halls Crossing, and Wahweap marinas. A variety of sizes of houseboats are available with different features. Some include hot tubs and fireplaces!
In 2006, ARAMARK introduced two new classes and sizes of houseboats, including a new luxury class of boats. The 75-foot Excursion houseboats sleep 12 in five private staterooms, and is equipped with satellite TV and radio, a hot tub, two barbecues and a fireplace. Antelope Point Marina also rents the 709 Millennium houseboat, which features a very open layout to fit your group with plenty of room to spare. A new fully accessible 759 houseboat, with an electronic elevator-style lift is also available.

Jadi Tooh (Antelope River)
This remarkable restaurant opened in spring 2007 and is located on a one-acre "floating island" surrounded by floating fountains. The dramatic open breezeway welcomes you inside while floor to ceiling glass walls will surround you with stunning lake views. Being away from home doesn't mean you'll have to give up great food. Jadi Tooh Restaurant highlights the most innovative Southwestern cuisine with Native American fusion featuring cedar plank salmon. And in the center of it all is a huge wood-fire pizza oven. Prefer to stay on-board? Simply call in your menu order and it will be delivered dockside.
Rainbow Room
This elegant, glass-walled restaurant in Lake Powell Resort combines fine and romantic dining. The panoramic view of Wahweap Bay and Castle Rock will tempt you to sit here all day, from breakfast right through dinner, so you can watch the changing colors of the landscape. The restaurant is also the perfect spot to observe the houseboats and cruisers docking and departing. The Rainbow Room's ambience matches the variety and quality of its entrées and wines. It is open year-round for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Canyon Princess, Wahweap
New in 2007 is the yacht-style tour boat, the Canyon Princess. This luxurious 96-foot vessel will be available for short cruises around Wahweap Bay, as well as Sunset Dinner Cruises. The newest entry in the tour fleet at Lake Powell Resort will also be available on a charter basis for special functions such as weddings and catered meetings. There is a bar on board and comfortable seating in the fully enclosed upper and lower dining rooms. The front section of the lower deck and the rear section of the upper deck are both open and offer wonderful views as you glide across Wahweap Bay. Reservations are recommended and a minimum number of passengers is required. Béne Pizzaria Restaurant, Lake Powell Resort
Enjoy the bustling boat activity at this convenient restaurant located near Wahweap's launch ramp. Enjoy your pizza or salad on the deck or have it delivered to your room at Lake Powell Resort. It is open May through September.
Anasazi Restaurant, Bullfrog
This restaurant adjoins Defiance House Lodge, so the setting affords panoramic views of Bullfrog Bay, Henry Mountains, Navajo Mountain and the Water-pocket Fold of Capitol Reef National Park. Also, see reproductions of Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi) pottery and a mural depicting a traditional village on display. It is open seasonally and provides a wine list, bar service, breakfast (seasonal), lunch and dinner.
Marina Stores
Stores at all marinas sell basic food supplies, beverages, ice and sundries. Fresh, ready-made sandwiches are also stocked at Antelope Point, Halls Crossing, Hite and Dangling Rope.
Box Lunches
For visitors at Wahweap or Bullfrog, box lunches are available with advance notice. Call the front desk of your lodge to place your order the night before.

Alexander Backs New Source of Funding for National Parks

U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today announced he will cosponsor bipartisan legislation to create a new source of funding for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and other national parks across the country as part of the “Centennial Challenge” celebrating the 100th anniversary of the National Park System in 2016. “The Centennial Challenge could bring up to $4 million to the Smokies – the country’s most visited national park – and will go a long way toward improving park facilities, aiding conservation efforts, and helping build upon the excellent visitor services already offered. This 4th of July, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate our country’s birthday than backing legislation that will aid efforts to preserve and celebrate our national parks, one of America’s greatest treasures.”

EPA's Pollution Plan Slammed

City officials and business leaders here Wednesday warned that a federal proposal to relax air quality standards for the nation's national parks will ultimately be bad for business. Simply put, they said during a news conference at the entrance to Zion National Park, lower air standards being proposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hurt this gateway city economically if fewer tourists visit the park. "Air pollution could damage the stars, vistas and clean air we enjoy," Springdale Mayor Pat Cluff said. "Some places deserve to be preserved and it is my responsibility to preserve [the park] for those who come here."

Today, people travel to the Dinosaur National Monument located on the borders of Colorado and Utah to see the leftover dinosaur bones. Visitors can see as many as 1,500 Jurassic-era fossils exposed on the cliff face of the Douglass Quarry.

Environmentalists have been issuing dire warnings about the deterioration of the Florida Everglades for years, saying these wetlands have to be restored in order to revive fragile ecosystems and increase scarce fresh water supplies. Over half of the Everglades are gone, irreversibly converted to urban or agricultural development. But this week, in an attempt to save what's left, the state of Florida announced a plan to buy nearly 200,000 acres of former wetlands from a sugar cane producer. Advocates say the plan is the largest restoration project in American history.
