For off-road running that goes beyond the soft surface paths at the city park the rugged Vasque Women's Velocity Trail Running Shoe gives you the protection and support necessary to hop up and over boulders jump across streams and grind up narrow ridge routes. For intense workouts such as these support and stability is needed from all of the shoe's components. The 1.2mm synthetic nubuck and breathable airmesh upper with welded thermoplastic urethane (TPU) reinforcing offers support without causing the foot to overheat. Underneath the foot a TPU plate provides protection from gnarly roots jagged rocks and torsion control over uneven terrain in general. This plate sits immediately above the Vasque Mako® outsole and gives you confidence when running on rock slabs descending switchbacks or making your way up a pebble-strewn logging road. And above the TPU plate a dual density molded EVA midsole offers cushioning and motion control that becomes increasingly important as the mileage piles up. The Vasque Velocity Trail Running Shoe for women includes a Beneke-Ceroprene rand to provide even more protection from the wilderness floor and a gusseted tongue to help shed debris.

I LOVE my Vasque velocity hiking shoes!! I had my first pair for two years and wore the heel out- I was so disappointed when I returned to the store where I had purchased them and they no longer carried them. I was thrilled to find them at altrec.com and at a great price!!! Thank you!!! these are the most comfortable and durable shoes for trail hiking!!! Thinking of getting an extra pair!!

I bought the Woman's Vasque Velocity because I am an avid trail runner with weak ankles and wanted a running shoe that would give my ankles a little extra support. I have a medium width foot with medium arches. I tested these shoes 2 days out of the box in low 80 tempertaures running with my dogs across wide open grassy fields along single tracks strewn with tree roots and rocks down a steep embankment to the creek to water the dogs then back up the opposite embankment to return to the single track. These shoes gave me the cushioned ride that makes running a joy while at the same time providing me with strong ankle and arch support. No fancy laces--just tug and tie--my favorite. I normally wear a 7 and 1/2 in a hiking or running shoe and the Velocity 7 and 1/2 fit me great with just a bit of wiggle room for my toes. After an hour and a half of running and hiking in these shoes I returned home with no hint of a blister on either foot. I highly recommend these shoes and hope that Vasque does not "upgrade" them for a long time because they are perfect for me just the way they are.

Before buying the Vasque Velocity I thought they would be tough enough to use as a pair of trail shoes in addition to using them for running. I was NOT disappointed. We recently returned from a 5 day backpacking trip in a Southwest canyon and after running them through the washer they look nearly new. For the better part of five days we hiked on rugged off-trail terrain often wading in a river and the Velocity held-up great. I never got even a hint of a blister despite wet feet. The underfoot protection from stones was excellent.

I have high arches and have a hard time finding running shoes that don't make my feet go numb with lacing. These fit like a glove are light enough to run on a treadmill but tough enough for rocky trails. Buying my second pair!
