Very similar to the award winning Vasque Blur Trail Running Shoe the Vasque Men's Mercury Trail Running Shoe offers the same great underfoot support but uses synthetic leather in place of microfiber in the upper. Although the shoe still feels nimble on paved stretches this does add three ounces to the overall weight. Still the synthetic leather does enhance stability and provide greater protection in cold weather and on rough trails. The Vasque Mercury Trail Running Shoe's ride is characterized as soft and cushioned yet is sturdy enough that it does not collapse underneath the arch. To accomplish this Vasque uses a molded EVA midsole with an integrated plate of nylon textile. This softens the blow of repeated heel strike while at the same time gives the shoe enough rigidity to provide a stable platform when dodging a low-hanging branch or dancing across a boulder strewn streambed. For those who are up and running before the sun rises reflective trim gives the Vasque Men's Mercury Trail Running Shoe a high level of visibility for passing cars.

This is a very well designed trail shoe and it excels espcially on rocky surfaces here in Colorado. Very durable - solid sole and good grip. It's a keeper!

I have been purchasing Vasque heavy backpacking boots for twenty years and have been sold on their quality and fit for my feet. I have been purchasing the Vasque trail shoes for twelve years and needed a new one I wanted the Velocity but found the Mercury on sale at Altrec. They fit very good and the construction seems pretty good. I am used to more leather. I wore them right away on a backpacking trip to Isle Royal 30 miles total in four days. They were not broke in but felt very good. I wore them in water the first day ant that helped. I hope they hold up like my last couple pairs
