Excellent for hiking paddling and fly fishing Patagonia's Eco Rain Shell Jacket features a durable dual-ply outer shell made from earth-friendly recycled polyester. Patagonia reinforced the waterproof and windproof design with a H2NO membrane but there's still a degree of breathable comfort through the inner polyester mesh lining (it's made from recycled polyester too). The hood detaches with a zipper/snap design that's perfect for those situations when you don't need it or you want to opt for a hat. All of the outer pockets feature waterproof zippers to help keep your gear dry. There's also an internal security pocket that's perfect for your wallet or other valuables. While the fit is contoured it's easy to add a layer of fleece or other light insulators beneath the Eco Rain Shell Jacket without compromising your range of motion.

I have always worn mediums in Patagonia jackets (e.g. Rain Shadow & Slope Style). This one however...had to opt for a large. I'm 6' 145lbs. with very long arms. That was the only problem I had. The medium's arms were too constricting...but the large has a little too much room in the waist. But I'd rather have range of motion...than slim fitting. Anyway...great jacket though. Keeps you dry!

Recently purchased and brought along as the outer shell on a recent trip to Mount Washington. Some of the foulest wind and storms are found there and I was amazed at the wind and water protection I had for my body whilst close to the summit. Patagonia has yet to do me wrong. One feature especially great was the ability of the cuffs to be loosened with no hanging strap. Simple functional placement of the Velcro made all the difference and was a very nice feature to have. In -45 the last thing I wanted was to be playing with my outer layer too much. Though it's not mentioned in the item description I wore my Chugach (MHW) heater jacket underneath and still found my range of motion to be far past adequate. Great product. Yvon Chouinard's crew strikes again.
