Light protection ![]()

Light weight protection that will fit in a fanny pack and protect you in a downpour. No pit zips but if you want one of the lightest jackets - this is it.
excelent, just the zip could be a bit easier to close ![]()

Zealot is really excelent just the zip could be a bit easier to close. I have never had such a light jacket. When the parcel arrived I thought it was empty. Further test of my new jacket will be done in Malaysia next month. So I will let you know.
A very light rain jacket that works ![]()

I was looking for a lightweight rain jacket to replace the Marmot Precip I used on my 2003 Appalachian Trail Thru Hike when I found this jacket in your add. I'll be doing a 500 mile hike on the A.T. this year and this jacket will fill the bill nicely. It's very light weight around 8 oz. and does an excellent job of repeling rain. The hood is deep and covers my head and gives me a wider angle of vision than i'm used to having. It lacks pit zips that were on the Precip but after about 2200 miles of hiking with the Precip I can tell you it makes little difference your going to sweat anyway inside your jacket if your lugging a loaded backpack up a mountain. In long distance hiking this rain jacket will be very functionable in wet and windy conditions and shave that extra weight off our shoulders that many of us backpackers are looking for.
Very Light ![]()
by Bryce
If you want a jacket that's so light it's barely noticeable in your pack this is the one. Not only is it light it keeps the water and wind out very effectively. I used it as a shell with an OR Neoplume as my insualting layer in Breckenridge while skiing in March and stayed warm and dry. The ferocious blowing snow and cold was no match for the shell. My only complaint is that it lacks side pockets and that the hood does not have front drawstrings. This is OK since it is so light. The zipper is not as bad as I anticipated based on others' reviews. The Marmot Precip and North Face Venture I tried on in the store seemed to have worse zippers. Maybe OR improved it? Altrec is great becasue of the feee returns.
The $99 XL is a steal if it fits. ![]()

I normally wear size large jackets but couldn't resist the $99 XL in black. It fits well enough to use anytime but has plenty of room for layers also. The 8 oz. weight makes this the lightest Gor Tex jacket on the planet. This is a good way to cut pack weight and size by replacing heavier shells however it does not have pit zips so it could get steamy in hot weater. I have not field tested the jacket but it sheds water like a duck when walking in the rain.
