Took it on its first trial run. I was very impressed with this bag's many tightening straps that held the load very steady. Also the daylight attachable attaches very securly and is very convenient.

This pack is new this year and is hard to find due to demand and distribution problems at Osprey. I was happy to find it at Altec.
I bought the Aether 70 because my ultralight pack was ultrawimpy. For a pound more you get a super supportive frame system and a real hipbelt that can carry 40-50 lb loads for weeklong trips. I took it to the local REI and they kindly baked the hipbelt to custom fit my waist. Nice.
I tested it out on a 3 night trip near Tioga Pass in Yosemite and it felt great on 2500 foot climb.
Im not sure where the other reviewer gets the cheap material comment. I think the fabric used is fairly heavy-duty and better that material used in most lightweight packs.
My only negative comment would be about the top lid/lumbar pack feature. It's kind of a pain to get the hipbelt off and onto the top lid and barely worth the effort for the small top lid capacity. Overall a great pack at a great price.

real nice to have an altrec employee (Mike Rose @ mike.rose @ altrec.com) raving about being able to "find" it all altrec.com.

I had trouble finding this pack anywhere due to high demand and distribution problems withh Osprey. Was very happy to find Altec had them.
The problem with many "ultralight" pack is they offer no support. A thin single stay and a flimsy hipbelt offer little support when hauling a week's worth of food. For an extra pound the Aether 70 provides a solid suspension system and honest-to-God hipbelt.I took the pack into the local REI and they kindly "baked" my hipbelt to conform to my waist. Sweet.
Im not sure where other reviewers get the "cheap fabric" comments. It's heavy-duty compared to many of the fabrics used on lightweight packs. I would trust this pack on any trip.
The only criticism I have is with the top pocket/lumbar pack feature. It's a pain to pull out the hipbelt and fit it into the top pocket. I prefer the top lid waist straps that are sewn-in on my Gregory pack.
Overall the Aether 70 is a great choice for a lightweight pack that can do it all.
