Arc'teryx Men's Sidewinder SV Jacket Arc'teryx: Men's Sidewinder SV Jacket

Gore-Tex® Pro Shell rebuffs nasty weather and the laminated construction keeps the weight down.

This season don't just survive big mountain weather charge right through it with the Arc'teryx Men's Sidewinder SV Jacket. The 480N MG GORE-TEX® 3-layer Pro fabric features a revolutionary Micro Grid woven backer that is very durable breathable and allows for reduced seam allowances and narrower taped seams. This makes the jacket lighter and more supple. Laminated construction techniques provide the clean stylish finish that rightfully gives the jacket its signature Arc'teryx look. After all Arc'teryx introduced this innovative construction technique to the outdoor industry in 1998 thereby opening the door to a new era of technical outerwear that cuts weight improves garment strength and reduces bulk. Additional performance features include two-way pit zips for ventilation a helmet compatible Drop Hood with stealth brim adjuster laminated powder skirt to seal out spindrift and a Recco® avalanche reflector. The Arc'teryx Sidewinder SV Jacket for men offers a roomy articulated fit for maximum freedom of motion. It gets its name from the Sidewinder™ front zipper that tracks to the side of the chin for optimal comfort.

great quality, design. questionable collar design Image: 4 Stars

Lightweight (yet still bombproof) and great construction quality. However I've had a few minor issues with it so far (after about a month of ownership with about a week in the snow). The collar is nice and high but it's fairly close fitting (not tight at all but more of a "just right" cut). So when I wear a fleece neck gaiter partially tucked in (along with the collar of a fleece mid-layer zipped up) the jacket won't zip up all the way due to the extra bulk. Not such a great thing when it's well below freezing as it leaves the upper cheeks and nose exposed. Will be trying a less bulky gaiter/balaclava to see if that remedies it. Also with the hood/collar up occasionally the edge of the collar would cut/chafe into the bottom of my earlobes when I turned my head. Both of these may just be due to the way the jacket fits me specifically (though I wouldn't say my neck is fat) and they'd both be remedied fairly simply though with a helmet/tighter neck gaiter/headsock/etc. Otherwise the rest of the jacket is great - one handed drawcords on the hood and hem interior pockets fit a phone/ipod great laminated cuffs feel nice and light.

Arc'Teryx does not disappoint. This is simply the best shell out there for all of your snow activities. Lightweight Gore-Tex everywhere!! This is one highly functional piece of technical wear in the marketplace. Just one criticism the interior zip pockets could be a tad bigger.

Overall great jacket. Performed well on numerous ski trips and look forward to next winter. The only downfall is the curved zipper flaps around if it is not fully zipped while skiing. I highly recommend

Nice, well thought-out light weight Jacket! Image: 5 Stars

After finally biting the bullet and spending the money on this jacket I'm happy to say that i've been very happy with it and feel it is worth the money. No leaks light weight plenty of pockets nice one-handed adjustments on the powder skirt and hood. Pit zips are very large and provide ample venting. I'm not too sure about the "Sidewinder" zipper it is kind of uncomfortable i think and it's much harder to zip up all the way than a zipper than just zips up the middle. Kind of a gimmick it seems but a good idea nevertheless. Over all a very good jacket in my opinion.

High cost for high quality Image: 4 Stars

I purchased this garment to use both functionally and fashionably. I have not had a chance to push it to it's weather blocking limits but I have worn it to work on rainy days and it did it's job well keeping the weather off and curiosity on. People who know the name also know the quality and the cost. This jacket is very light weight but can be used for a good layering effect.
