Acadia National Park

Ranger Picks

There's no better way to experience the stories and wonders of Acadia National Park than by exploring the park with a ranger. Two of our favorite ranger-led options are the night hike and the bike tour.

Park rangers challenge you to use your senses to explore the mystery and intrigue of the night world in Knowing the Night. Under the cover of darkness, everything feels like a new discovery—the haunting call of a barred owl, the sudden splash of a beaver's tail, leaves stirring in the wind. For ages eight and older, this nighttime exploration is an adventure to remember.

If you want a completely different experience, take part in Riding the Roads, a ranger-led bicycle tour along the park's historic carriage roads. Learn about the stone-faced bridges built by John D. Rockefeller, enjoy views of sparkling lakes, and discover new stories of nature and history. You must be 14 or older to take this personal tour; bring your own bike or rent one in town.

For more information about schedules and fees, pick up a copy of the park newspaper, the Beaver Log, or stop by the visitor center or park headquarters. We look forward to seeing you!
